It's truly amazing how much your life can change in a year. On July 24, 2020, I launched "poetry by kimberly daniella". On July 24, 2021 I not only celebrated 1 year since launching the website, but I also announced one of my biggest accomplishments to date. Poetry by Kimberly Daniella is now an official business, making me an ENTREPRENEUR! When I created this website, I never would've imagined the amount of success it has brought into my life in just a YEAR. 365 days, 21 poems, 4 blog posts, 3 spoken word videos, and 14 features later, my mind is still blown. God really opened doors for me this year and I'm extremely grateful. If you told me a year ago that I'd be an entrepreneur at 19, I probably wouldn't have believed you, but here I am.
Now, you may be wondering what this means for the future of Poetry by KD. You may even be asking yourself "What exactly is a poetry business?", "What is she selling?", or "What is the brand?" Well, to answer your question, I AM the brand. As for what it means to register a poetry business, it's probably a lot simpler than you think. Things won't be much different from what I've been doing up until this point, just more official. I'll still be creating genuinely and passionately from my heart. I'll still be writing for my own solace and healing, not for the validation of others. Having the legal rights to the name and logo behind this site, as well as protection of my intellectual property, just allows me to express myself freely as an artist and continue sharing my work; all while continuing to make a name for myself. It's truly amazing to be able to say that I have created many opportunities from a hobby of mine that I love so dearly. When you create opportunity from a place of passion, nothing is impossible, dreams come true, and the possibilities are endless.
The face behind the brand, the brand, and the business
This portfolio continues to mean so much to me. It's my safe space. My world away from the world. After a long day, it's one of the few things I want to turn to. After a year of hard work, dedication, and passion, I'm so happy I have something to show for it and I can't wait to keep creating. I'm so proud of myself, how far I've come, and the woman I'm becoming. Stay tuned for more insight into my mind through my poetry, blogs, and creative pieces. This is truly just the beginning.
I just want to take some time to say thank you to everyone who has supported me up until this point. If you've ever visited this site, read my poetry, watched my spoken word videos, or shared my work, I thank you. To know that my art has touched so many people in such a short period of time makes my heart so full. All I've ever wanted to do was create to my hearts desire and make an impact in people's lives. With this poetry portfolio, I've been able to do both simultaneously. I don't think I'll ever be able to fully explain what art means to me and how it's contributed to my life all these years, but I'll let the poetry speak for itself. Who knows, maybe one day I'll put it in a book or a Ted Talk. *manifesting*
I believe we all leave some sort of mark on this world before we leave it and I believe art is one of the most distinct marks one can make. If you told me at the age of 12 that I'd be an entrepreneur at 19, I probably wouldn't have believed you. But, that doesn't mean I wouldn't have believed I was capable. I doubt I would've denied my potential. I've always known from a young age that I could do anything I put my mind to. To anyone reading this, I hope you know that you can too. And to my fellow creatives, keep creating. There is someone out there who needs to hear your music, or see your painting, or watch your film, or read your poetry. Keep leaving your mark on the world one piece at a time.
